Fundraising and Sponsorship

Each year we rely on our youth members and their families paying an annual subscription, split across the four school terms, grants, sponsorship, donations, and fundraising activities, to keep our group operating.

If we relied solely on the annual subs that we charge the youth to keep the group running, our subscription fees would be out of reach for some families within our group.

In order to keep our subs as low as possible, and to enable those families to attend, we rely on the additional forms of fundraising mentioned above, but we could not do it without the local community and their ongoing support.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your ongoing and continued support.

Some of the fundraising activities we run include our annual Fertiliser Drive, which is our biggest earner. We run this in late August and early September of each year.

We also participate in and run other activities such as selling things like Whittakers Chocolates, Cling-wrap, and tin-foil, from time to time, along with regular sausage-sizzles courtesy of both Bunnings Riccarton, and Mitre10 at Hornby.

All of this helps with the running of our group and maintenance of our building and equipment.

Sponsorship:

A very special thank you goes out to the Halswell Lions Club, Harcourts Real Estate, and the St Albans Masonic Lodge.

Through the ongoing support of the Lions Club, and a donations from the St Albans Masonic Lodge we were able to purchase two brand new Zempire Titan tents which we took to Jamboree at the end of 2023, and been able to retire two of our oldest tents which had reached the end of their useful life.

Would you consider “Sponsoring a Scout”?

This would entail an agreed amount between you (or your business) and the scout/scout’s family being contributed to the scout’s fundraising for Jamboree. Limited to the scouts’ attending Jamboree only and not for any other purpose, and for a finite period. In exchange we would acknowledge your business in our publications and on Social Media by way of saying thank you. Contact us for more information, including an information pack and application form.

Grants:

Special thanks to the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board for their support and ongoing grants

PREVIOUS RESULTS: Earlier, in June 2023, we ran a multi-prize raffle with prizes donated from numerous individuals and organisations. We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to those organisations and individuals that supported our raffle, with hundreds of dollar worth of prizes. Additionally, we were able to sell virtually our entire stock of tickets!

The funds raised from this facilitated our ability to keep our 2023-2024 jamboree fees to families to a minimum. Congratulations to all the winners!
